Our 10 Step Repair Process

1) One Stop Customer Service

2) Damage Assessment

Chesapeake Collision Auto Repair ProcessIf your vehicle was driven to our facility, one of our estimators will greet you and inspect your vehicle to determine the extent of damage. An estimate will be written, parts preordered and an appointment set for you to drop off your vehicle for repairs. If we believe that your vehicle is unsafe to drive we will suggest that you leave it with us and we will arrange alternative transportation. If your vehicle was towed in we will complete an initial damage assessment and contact you with our results.

3) “The Plan”/Blueprinting

In this process we completely disassemble the damage area to identify all damage and determine the repair plan. Further, this process ensures that the repairs will return your vehicle to a safe condition. Hidden damage is often found, inner structure, mechanical, and suspension repairs are determined.

4) Insurance Approval Chesapeake Collision Auto Repair Process

If the cost of repair will be covered by an insurance company we will contact the insurance company the damage estimate. Estimate and Supplemental Reports and Digital Images are Sent to the Insurance Company for Approval. Upon receiving approvals from you and the insurance company, we will begin the process of locating and ordering the parts necessary to repair your vehicle. Parts may arrive at different times; however, when a part is received and cleared by our quality inspectors we will begin work as soon practical.

5) Structural Repair

Chesapeake Collision Auto Repair ProcessThe foundation of your vehicle is its “frame” or structure. In the Structure Repair area, the unitized body is returned back to the factory specification. Utilizing a sophisticated laser measuring system analyze frame symmetry to ensure that this critical step conforms to manufacture’s specifications.

6) Body Repair

The Body Repair Department replaces exterior panels, and all metal finishing that may be required. The vehicle begins to come back to life as sheet metal is installed and aligned. All collision-related repairs require some degree of cosmetic repair and often require replacement of factory panels. We test the fit the components to ensure your vehicle’s parts look, fit and align as they did from the factory.

7) Refinishing

Chesapeake Collision Auto Repair ProcessPaint preparation is a critical step in the refinishing process of every vehicle. All panels are prepared for paint, then primed and sealed to assure good adhesion when the final top color and clear coasts of paint are applied. We will only use refinish products that meet or exceed the original manufacturer’s specifications and are backed by a lifetime paint performance guarantee.

8) Reassembly

Chesapeake Collision Auto Repair ProcessOnce your vehicle has gone through the refinish process, we then reattach the other parts such as mirrors, moldings, and other hardware. At this step your vehicle will undergo an extensive pre-delivery inspection. Miscellaneous post repair activities such as wheel will be performed at this time.

9) Detailing/Post Repair Inspection

We are proud of our work and you are proud of your vehicle. It will be cleaned and all systems tested. Our final delivery inspection will assure that the vehicle is restored to its pre-accident condition.

10) Vehicle Presentation

When you arrive to pick up your safely repaired vehicle, the bill is explained and the final paperwork is completed. We will present the vehicle and review the work that was accomplished during the repair. We are not satisfied until you are delighted!
